Chapter 7

Learning Intentions

•I understand that books have the ability to change the way I think about myself and about my world.

•I am able to look for and identify things in a book that matter the most to me. There are examples of this in my writing.

  19. I think Olemauns father is helping her reconnect to her language by, communicating in Inuvialuktun, asking her questions in Inuvialuktun, not using English words(unless needed), and so on. But it is important for her to remember, because she will be known as another piece of her family. Olemaun thinks that when her father is saying to the family how proud he is of her, she feels as if Olemaun is revamping inside of her. But in my opinion when Olemaun gets her dogsled (best day of her life) I think she it’s so special to her because, she thinks her father believes in her so much now, that she can get her own dogsled. And since her father got there from his big trip.
